Terms & Conditions

Last updated 24 July 2026 · Version 1.0

The short version. Docurensic analyzes documents and tells you what it finds. It is decision support, not a certificate of authenticity — a human makes the final call. Your documents stay yours, and they are never used to train AI models. Use the service on documents you have the right to analyze, and don't use it to break the law or disrupt the platform. The sections below are the binding version. Questions? [email protected].

1. Who we are, and what you're agreeing to

Docurensic ("Docurensic", "we", "us") operates the forensic document intelligence service at docurensic.com and is based in Canada. These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are the agreement between you and us for your use of that service, including the website, the web application, and the API (together, the "Service").

By creating an account, accepting these Terms at sign-up, or using the Service, you agree to them. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorized to accept these Terms for that organization. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. What the Service does — and what it does not do

Docurensic examines a document's structure, metadata, fonts, images, content, and history, and returns findings, a risk score, and a verdict. This is decision support.

It is not a certification, guarantee, legal opinion, or expert determination that a document is genuine or fraudulent. A result of "Trusted" does not prove a document is authentic, and a result of "Reject" or "Review" does not prove wrongdoing by any person. Detection has limits: some alterations leave no recoverable trace, and some innocent workflows leave traces that resemble tampering. You are responsible for the decisions you make, and any document that matters should be reviewed by a qualified human before you act on it.

Do not use the Service as the sole basis for a decision that materially affects a person's rights, finances, employment, insurance, credit, or legal position.

3. Your account

4. What you may analyze

You may only submit documents you own or otherwise have the right to analyze, store, and process through a third-party service. If a document contains someone else's personal information, you are responsible for having a lawful basis to process it and for meeting any notice or consent obligations that apply to you.

5. Acceptable use

Don't use the Service to:

6. Your content stays yours

You keep all rights in the documents and data you submit ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, process, transmit, and display Your Content solely to operate the Service for you — to run the analysis you asked for, to store what you chose to store, and to support you if you ask for help.

Your documents are never used to train AI models — ours or anyone else's — and we do not sell Your Content or share it with other customers. You control retention: you can run the Service in a storageless posture, keep encrypted originals in your File Vault, or connect your own cloud storage. You can delete what you keep at any time. See the Privacy Policy for the detail.

7. Plans, pricing, and early access

The Service is currently offered free of charge, with the full forensic engine included. Paid plans are planned. We may introduce, change, or withdraw plans, prices, quotas, and rate limits, and we may change what is included in the free tier. If we introduce a charge for something you are already using, we will give you reasonable advance notice and you may stop using it rather than pay.

Fair-use limits, storage quotas, and rate limits apply so one account cannot degrade the Service for everyone else.

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep the Service available and accurate, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features, perform maintenance, or change how the engine scores documents as detection improves. Where a change is significant and we reasonably can, we will give notice.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party infrastructure and analysis providers, and can connect to services you authorize (such as Dropbox or Google Drive). Those providers are listed in the Privacy Policy. Services you connect are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, and you are responsible for the access you grant. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory — including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We specifically make no warranty that the Service will detect every alteration or forgery, that its findings are complete or correct, or that a document it does not flag is genuine.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, including under consumer protection legislation. Where that law applies to you, these exclusions apply only to the extent that law permits, and nothing here removes rights you cannot waive.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost business, or lost or corrupted data, arising from or relating to the Service — even if we have been advised such damages are possible.

Our total aggregate liability arising from or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) CAD $100. If you use the Service on a free plan, you acknowledge that amount may be CAD $100 in total.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

12. Your responsibility to us

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your submission of content you had no right to submit.

13. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms, that creates a security or legal risk, or that we are required to suspend by law — and, where reasonable, we will tell you why.

When an account is closed, we delete or de-identify the associated data as described in the Privacy Policy. You should export anything you want to keep before closing your account. Sections 6, 10, 11, 12, and 15 survive termination.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we make a material change we will update the version and date at the top of this page and, for account holders, give notice in the product or by email — and we may ask you to accept the new version before continuing. Continued use after a change means you accept it.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Canada and of the province in which Docurensic is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of that province have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
